The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen returns to Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square with its fifth juried fine craft fair over Mother’s Day weekend, May 8, 9 & 10. The event was named a Top 100 Fine Craft Fair in the nation by ArtFair Sourcebook, a respected publication in the craft industry known for its artist-submitted show reviews.
Through a partnership with Friends of Rittenhouse Square and in conjunction with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, this event brings 150 fine craftsmen from across the country and Canada to downtown Philadelphia.
150 white tent canopies line the sidewalks of the gorgeous Rittenhouse park, brimming with beautiful handmade objects from both seasoned and emerging artists. Patrons will enjoy our Guild members’ finest work, amidst the canopy of trees and the nearby cafes as they browse through the booths of these independent makers.
The event features functional home décor such as furniture, pottery, glass, photography and other furnishings and also showcases wearable arts such as jewelry, clothing, accessories, leather and fiber handbags. Regardless of medium, all Guild craftsmen make it their passion to elevate everyday functional items into the realm of the visionary. All the craft on display is the patient and careful work of the craftsmen in the booth.
“There is a growing movement to buy handmade, and we are so excited to be an active participant!” says Executive Director, Brandi Clark. “Handmade craft is as unique as those that make it. We provide patrons with more than just a lovely object; we provide them the rich history behind each piece and a story to pass on. The Guild’s fine craft fairs allow people to connect with the makers as they find unique items of amazing quality to fill their lives. We are honored to help connect people with handmade items and to share the experience of craft with them.”
Fair hours are 11 am to 7 pm Friday & Saturday, and 11 am to 5 pm Sunday. Admission is free. Street and garage parking is plentiful.
